Sociolinguistic Rules of Speaking

Sociolinguistic Rules of  Speaking

I read this book because I want to know a lot about the competence linguistic, so that I can discern grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation of English. So if I want to talk in front of a crowd, I was able to master the material and be able to use English properly. In addition I would like to know how we became a good speaker and correct. Although English is our second language, at least we are able to speak well, although with our second language. Especially now that I attend college majoring in English, then I should at least be able to speak in front of crowds with the current language learning me, namely English. I'm also hoping to read this book I was able to develop my speaking, and add many English vocabularies.

The contents of the article made by the author is a traditional linguistic research has focused most attention on the exploration of linguistic competence, the rules governing grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. This approach may have been learned, namely that the acquire competence linguistic will be enough for you to become communication who effective in a second language. Of course, you need this knowledge to produce speech that is true that a second language. Sociolinguistics argues, however, that linguistic competence does not mean guarantee successful communication important drawback is that it does not guarantee that you can understand and produce socially appropriate speech in a second language. In addition the author also argues that if we want to be a good speaker, we have to master a lot of vocabulary and grammar in our second language.

For sociolinguistic, misunderstanding the evidence for the existence of such offer sociolinguistic rules of speaking. Same such as grammar, vocabulary, and the rules phonological linguistic competence we helps us generate speech the correct language, rules of sociolinguistic allows us to understand and generate speeches social and the cultural who corresponding. Here also the author argues that in sociolinguistic we must master the vocabulary and grammar and phonological rules in speech. But we also need to be able to know quickly social culture, and must comply.

Christopher (1982) reported a relative reluctance in Japanese culture (compared to American culture) File not refuse a direct request from someone. According to Apte (1974), South Asia, unlike the U.S. and Europe, did not receive the shopkeeper, a close friend or family member. Other researchers have suggested that cultures differ in how and how often they ask for forgiveness (Cohen and Olshtain 1981; Cohen and olshtain 1983; Olshtain, 1983).

From the evidence presented in the paragraph above, it is clear that different cultures have different standards for what is socially appropriate linguistic behavior in the same condition. While thanking, apologizing, accepting, and rejecting possible universal activity, the rules for when and how to perform these actions can be very different from culture to culture

Author's opinion is also confirmed by the father of Nur Asyik, who said, if we want to be a good speaker, then we must master the vocabulary, and much better we master the vocabulary and grammar a bit, many of us have little control of grammar and vocabulary (absorbed ., 2006). Of opinion was the father of  Nur Asyik fun, the importance of vocabulary in speaking. Because without speaking, we cannot connect our conversation, especially if we want to talk to us a bit of a second language we rarely use. In this case we are required to memorize a lot to remember vocabulary and continue by pledging to talk with a vocabulary that we get.

This book is very appropriate and relevant in accordance with what we need in talking. The book also gives us the motivation to master a lot of vocabulary and grammar learning, so that we can master the language we learn. The book is also recommended for speakers who use their second language. In order in their speaking we able to speak properly. The book also gives a lesson to us that we have a lot to learn our second language.

So after I read this book, I can draw the conclusion that if we want to master a second language, we must know a lot of vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation so that we do not make mistakes. In this passage also teaches us how we have to master a second language speech. Also do not forget we also have a second language can condition our social culture.
